What’s the top thing a business owner can do to improve SEO and their website?

Well the short answer is too create content. But writing can be quite tricky and challenging from many business owners. Writing is the correct answer. As far as what’s the number one thing that can be done, however, knowing that it’s quite challenging and aversive to most business owners, I’ve decided to make number one adding photos to the website.

Photos are super important with how ranking works on websites and Google is able to index photos based on certain information inside the photo and also the way that the photo is tagged. When a photo is taken, it has unique identifiers in the pixels that are like a finger print. No two photos are the same based on the amount of pixels and densities of colors in those pixels.

Each photo has a representation in zeros and ones that makes it unique. That’s why it’s so important to take your own photos for your website instead of using stock. Taking your own photos will give you credit for your website, where stock images will not give you credit because those photos are on the web already.

What’s great about adding photos to a website is that anyone can do it if they have a smart phone or a camera. And all of us do! What I recommend is getting a plan with a web developer where you can upload unlimited amounts to a website all included for one fee. When we get the photos, we download them to the desktop and then rename the photos with proper keywords such as description of the product or the service, the location where it’s at, any type of describer such as the color or the materials or the brand name of the product and then we upload those directly to the website. We also add an ALT tag to the images. ALT tags are descriptions on images that will say what the photo is when someone who is using a screen reader views the image. Screen readers are for those who are visually impaired who use them to browse the web. This makes your website accessible to everyone and that is important for Google ranking and will improve SEO.

So what is the number one thing you can do to be improving your website?

It is adding new photos on a regular basis! Try to add new photos to your website every single week or every single month if you can. Ideally, you can add multiple photos per week and that will help your website rankings dramatically.
