There are 2 philosophies when it comes to web development:
Wire Frame & Rapid Development
What’s the difference between Wire Frame & Rapid Development?
Wire Frame development starts with gathering lots of information in the beginning and creating a wire frame of the proposed web design.
Rapid Development starts with an idea and then builds that idea all the way out as far as possible. Then it removes/adds what is necessary from that point (similar to how a sculpture is made from a solid block).
My company SkyPoint Studios is a rapid development firm. I chose this philosophy because I feel it gives the client the best possible solution in the fastest time possible.
Often times it is hard for a client to know what they want until they see a finalized version. I’ve learned this over many, many years of development.
Our clients will be presented a gorgeous site after just a few conversations, at which many respond “I really like that!” and then we edit a few things here or there for it to go live.
Meanwhile other firms who use Wire Frame are still going around and around on the wire frame design. We drive the bus for the client first and then let them take the wheel as opposed to the other way around.
I find this technique works very well for making quality websites in the quickest time possible. Our extremely high satisfaction level shows that we are doing things right when it comes to web design.
So the next time you go to create a website, ask the developer what style they use and pick a developer that does rapid development. I think you’ll be quite pleased with the results!
