SEO Presentation
Recently I was asked to give a presentation for my Thursday networking group called team synergy. The group has speakers each week from the members and it was my turn to present. Wanting to share some of the techniques that we use to rank on Google I put together a presentation called number one on Google: YOU
This presentation breaks down exactly the techniques that I used to rank websites online. Here is the first slide and introduction and the cover as well as my introduction:
I share that I have been in business since 2006 and I have run several different businesses such as Green Directory Montana and Rocky Mountain Mr. & Ms. magazine. This gives me a unique grasp on small business as I have experience running many different styles of businesses and know what it takes to be successful in business.
Next is a quote that I put together which states that here at SkyPoint Studios we love to increase the presence and the profitability of our clients:
After my quote I added an agenda for the presentation which covers the four pillars of successful SEO. The first pillar is why ranking on Google is important. I think we all know now that Google searches are a common thing when you’re looking for a service or product near you, so SEO is important because it will bring in more traffic for your business.
The next step is choosing the right domain name. So many people don’t get started with the right domain name and it’s important to lay the foundation for what you want to achieve.
Next is creating the content that Google wants, and this cannot be stated how important this factor is. The more you focus on creating the right content and put it out there regularly, the more successful you will be online. And finally, the last step is to check the results and look at what your return on investment for your efforts is. This has a lot to do with analytics and tracking sales and conversion rates and finally the bottom line how profitable the business is.
Next, I have a slide that shows what the number one result on Google gets as far as traffic, which is 71% of all the results:
My next slide is showing how to choose the right domain name and in that I showed why I chose webdesignhavasu.com. It’s a smart move to have the keywords of the most common phrase your customer would use in the URL for ranking for web design in Havasu. The company name is Havasu Web Design Co. and the domain name is webdesignhavasu.com.
This allows Google to snag into it and rank it as the No. #1 listing in Havasu when searching for web design. You can check those results here for yourself.
Next is an example of what complete domination looks like. Complete domination in search means 1. a map listing 2. being #1 on the Google local results as well as #3 being No #1 organic results:
My next slide shows the content strategy that I’ve used on this exact website that you’re reading on right now. In the slide you can see that I have 228 blog posts with 197 of them SEO Yoast in the green, which is an extremely high level of content to be SEO’d properly and it’s why our website ranks number one in Billings for web design.
The next is a slide showing some recent blog post that we have covered on our website and then next slide after that is adding resources to your footer:
The website footer is one of the best places to put resources as it replicates in all of the different pages and it’s somewhere that a visitor will naturally look to find more things that they can discover on your website.
Okay here’s where the action starts to get going!
What I had them do next is a little bit of audience participation and we pulled out their phones and had them search for the most common phrase that people would be searching for when looking for their business.
So then we look at where they were at and finally we will check to see exactly how many indexes are on Google for their website by putting the exact URL in quotations and searching on Google. This returns all the indexes on the search engine and if there’s not very many that means you have more work to do.
So that’s the end of my SEO presentation! Everyone really enjoyed it a lot and I asked if there was any questions at the end and there were a bunch!
So I’m going to ask you the reader the same thing: if you have any further questions for me please sound off in the comments below and I’ll be glad to answer your specific questions and also show you some specific techniques that might be helpful to your particular situation.
