Jophiel grew up on a ranch in Paradise Valley, Montana near Chico Hot Springs. Working on the ranch instilled work ethic and self motivation. Filled with this drive, Jophiel started mowing the local school's yards twice a month throughout the summers, at the age of 12. He moved to Billings in 2004, where he has been deeply involved in the local business community ever since. A serial entrepreneur, Jophiel has ran multiple businesses in our local community. The first business, a janitorial and carpet cleaning company, founded in 2005, has employed over 50 locals. Moving on to the media industry, Jophiel and several partners founded Green Directory Montana in the spring of 2007. Green Directory's sustainability ranking software awarded points based on sustainable or "green" actions. These points counted towards a business's total "Green Score," which in turn ranked them against other businesses in their category and throughout the entire site. It also featured a limited edition print version distributed annually. A business acquisition allowed Jophiel to focus on new projects, and a few close business colleagues and Jophiel started Rocky Mountain Mr. & Ms. Magazine, a lifestyle publication for men and women in the Magic City. After a year and a half at the helm of RM3 Magazine, the business was purchased. He now runs a web development company SkyPoint Studios and fathers his son Jaoquin, who plays football, basketball, soccer, and is learning snowboarding from his dad. Recently, has expanded to locations in Havasu, Arizona & Vegas. SkyPoint Studios is a market leader in both Billings & Havasu and Jophiel is working on building that same level of market dominance in Vegas. Specialties: Extensive experience in online and offline business. Especially savvy at WordPress, and operate several sites, one example is the blog: skypointwebdesignbillingsmontana.com/tech-blog. The Customer is Always Right
It seems like it is the most popular social network all the sudden and it’s where everybody is hanging out. Instagram is even blowing up for businesses who are spending time on there now as opposed to any other platform besides maybe LinkedIn.
Is your business capitalizing on Instagram?
I just recently got SkyPoint’s Instagram account figured out better. We’ve always had an account, but it wasn’t being run correctly.
Now we are connecting with businesses all over the country who want to expand their brands. Instagram works well when you share pictures and actions of what you’re doing. We have been sharing pictures of different client meetings and project products that we have produced.
Also, we are sharing interesting stories and timelines of what’s going on with the business. That seems to be the most successful strategy, also engaging in and liking other people’s photos is always a good social media strategy.
Genuine authenticity is the most important key. Compassion and just a genuine gratitude for people and warmness is going to shine.
Just today I saw someone post on Instagram that they didn’t want to be at their business and that the an employee had called off. They had a grumpy looking picture of themselves in the business on the post.
I think this is one of the worst ways to use Instagram and highly encourage you to just not be on the platform if you’re going to post anything negative or cold about your business.
Instagram is for the opposite action actually, we want to make our businesses feel warm and approachable and interesting to the people out there. If you can educate people, so much the better & offer value of course.
Offering value is the number one way to be successful on social media. No matter how you offer that value, if it works for people, then it works.
One of the simplest ways to offer value to people is to show interest in what they are up to. Showing genuine interest is a lot like deciding to understand other people even when you might not have any interest in what they have an interest in.
It’s only natural that we won’t like all the same things other people like. However, if we can have a healthy respect for other people’s choices, then we can feel like we can have an appreciation for these things and even share some thoughts of interest are retrospect.
A question is always a good place to start if you don’t understand what someone else is doing in their business, their process or the steps that they take to make something successful.
If you haven’t opened your Instagram account in a while, try whipping it out and asking some questions of people on their posts (like the posts too!). Also if you’re someone who has a hard time giving compliments naturally, try to push yourself into the process of complimenting people on Instagram.
It’s healthy to get a gratitude for the skills and talents and hard work that others put in. It will give one a good sense of gratitude for their own hard work and a sense of community when we can all share in the camaraderie of growing our businesses and helping each other.
That’s what Instagram is all about! It’s about community; it’s about photography; and it’s about excitement and happiness to be in business and to be alive.
That’s what should come across when someone is viewing your account and that’s the energy that should be put into every single post and every single comment. Happy Instagram-ing!!
