What are WordPress tags? WordPress comes with categories and tags. Categories organize broader content and are necessary for each post. Tags on the other hand are for a specific idea that may be shared across posts but these type of tags are not required to use.
WordPress tags are basically keywords. They should be used to tie posts together, so a tag like “web design” on our site will have many posts on it. This helps us improve our SEO search terms, and that’s one of the reasons why WordPress is such a good platform for search engine optimization.
It is recommended to fill out the WordPress tags on each post to the best of your ability, 3 to 4 tags per post is usually good. Writing your post with the focus keywords that your customers will be searching to find your site in mind is a good idea.
If you are a plumber, for example, you want to write articles with the key word “fixing a leak” perhaps. Once you have two or three articles that have information about fixing a leak, the tag can be added to all of the articles. This will take the keyword “fixing a leak” and will create a landing page with all the content about that particular keyword through the various articles. This is what is so powerful for SEO!
