You know that saying about how we are all human, we all make mistakes, well that certainly applies to GoDaddy. Recently, I had an experience where they messed up royally on one of my hosting plans.
They caused an issue where their server would not allow me to delete any files and consequently I was going over the hosting data quota. The automated GoDaddy system messages kept encouraging me to buy a higher hosting plan and to spend more money.
GoDaddy wants you to buy more hosting plans
I couldn’t understand why my deleted items kept re-appearing after deletion and why I kept getting data overage messages. These messages indicated my websites would slow down and possibly stop working altogether. This was not acceptable.
“I’d like to speak to a manager, please.”
So I decided to call support [ 1 (480) 505-8877 ] Upon getting on the phone, I got one of the typical support people. They looked at the hosting and couldn’t understand what was going on. It seemed like everything was normal, and that when you delete files they seem to disappear.
But after a while they did start to pop back in again. The support gentlemen, was very nice and recommended that they could get it fixed for me. He put in a ticket for me and was going to call it all good and done with.
I said, “wait a minute, what about the slow website speeds and lost connections my sites have suffered over the last few months? I would like to speak to a manager, please.” When the manager got on the phone, I explained the situation on how the hosting account wouldn’t let me delete files and therefore my sites had suffered.
The manager, understood that I had suffered slow web performance and my business had suffered. Because of that, he decided to credit me for my losses.
I highly recommend asking a manager like this because if you do not ask, you won’t get any credit. And in my case, it was definitely GoDaddy’s fault and I deserved a credit. GoDaddy doesn’t care that much about whether they make a mistake or not.
It will be on the customers own volition to try and fix and resolve this issue.
“Yes, sir we can offer you a hosting credit.”
“Considering the lack of product performance, would you be able to credit my account in any way?”
If you find something wrong with your hosting or other GoDaddy products, please call support and asked to speak to a manager. When you get a hold of the manager be very nice, calm and assertively asked them to compensate for any losses you may have suffered.
Make sure to have screenshots of the issue at hand and be able to explain your position. The main reason most GoDaddy mistakes go unnoticed, in my opinion, is that the technical aspect obscures the reality of what should be happening.
Trust that technology will fail, but also trust that when it does fail, it is not always you [the customer’s] fault. Sometimes the biggest elephant in the room [GoDaddy] didn’t monitor things properly to offer a solid product.
