How to Add a Favicon to Your Website

Favicons are the little icon in the top left hand corner of a website. They help to identify a website in a list of website favorite links. The name favicon stands for favorite icon and alludes to the identification aspect of favorite-ing a website. In order to add a favicon to your website, we need to create an image. This image will be approximately 40 pixels by 40 pixels and should be something appropriate to remember your website by like a logo or picture of you. Once you have created a JPG image at this size, we will need to host it on your website. To host it, upload the picture into the site and find the reference link. The reference link will directly call up the image.

Now that we have the image link, it is time to put it in the code that will make it into the favicon area. Place your image link into the following code:

Add the code to the header of your website, above the closing tag.
