So for example, if you have a picture of a pen and you want to upload it onto your website, the robots don’t know that it’s a pen. What you would need to do is describe it with schema markup.
What is the brand name? Okay, it’s a ballpoint. Is it a black pen or a blue pen? Okay, it’s a black pen. Does it have a lot of ink in it? Is it newer? What is the pen on top of? These are the description terms that can be used when labeling and describing your images.
Other things to keep in mind are the location where the photo was taken. Location on images looks a lot like describing where and when the photo was taken. For example the outside of your storefront, might be the name your company. Use the common name or the local area wanting to rank on the photo name with the other keywords and upload it.
Meta tags are super important on the web. They let search engines know what an item on a website is. Schema markup is something that Google developed to label every single item that might possibly be listed on a website.
For example, there is schema markup for addresses, phone numbers, contact information, articles and descriptions, etc. Schema and meta tags are a way to categorize and to contextualize the world for robots. These robots work to serve up the search results inside of Google’s algorithm to help us find things when we’re looking for them on Google search.
Now when the robots come along they can actually help someone find the name of your company, the name of the service and the location and bring that photo up to share with them.
This is a great way to do SEO and be seen as an expert in your industry. The more places that you come up online the better you’re going to do. So it’s important to meta tag and use schema markup for every single asset that is on the website.
