Have you ever Google searched your name and found that other websites besides your own website come up first?

This can be rather frustrating because you would assume that your own business website would come up first for your name, and it really should!

In this blog post, I’m going to cover all the different processes and ways to go about ensuring that your website comes up first for your full name. The first thing we need to do is analyze our current website and figure out why it’s not coming up first. We can do this by going to the website and looking at the page that has our name on it, this could be probably the About page where we might be have a profile.

On the About page, let’s check how much information it is actually dedicated to us. It probably is somewhat sparse compared to the other websites that are coming up first. If there is no dedicated page just with your name on it, this is what the main problem is it needs to be rectified first.

First we will go into the website and create a new page with just your name and possibly the city you’re in and maybe your profession. I was doing this for a realtor recently and so his was his first and last name, Realtor, and then Las Vegas as that’s where he lives. On the new page we need to fill it with more information and content about your background and your certifications, your education, everything related to your career on that page, more than any other place on the web.

So this could take a while, and something that I recommend doing over a few days or several weeks so that it is updated as much as possible over a longer period of time and not all at once. On this page we also want add photos of yourself, so a nice headshot at the top and then maybe some photos of you out in the field, maybe some pictures of you and your family.

All these photos need to be labeled properly with your first and last name and then the name of your profession and your location before they are uploaded into the website. It’s really important that you write the name of the title into the photo before you upload it to the web. Don’t just leave it as an anonymous set of numbers or letters or whatever it has by default, it must have your full name in it in order for it to index properly with Google and influence when you’ve Google searched your name.

Next, we want to gather any reviews that you have online and screenshot them, so go to Google or Yelp or Facebook and screenshot your reviews and then save the name of the screenshot image as the name of the person reviewing reviews your name. We’re gonna take those and upload them to a gallery on the website. The title of the gallery could be ‘Feedback from Customers’ above the gallery. Inside the gallery every single review has your name on it with the customer who reviewed you tagged in it and that’s going to give a bunch indexes for all those reviews.

Once this is all completed, the next thing we need to do is get a bunch of back links from other websites to point to that specific new page we created. Linking out from all your different social media profiles and other business websites you have partnerships with, so that there’s a lot of links all going to that new page.

Finally, we want to go through your website and make sure that there’s links to that page from the About page, and put it up in the main menu as under the About drop-down tab to have your name there and then finally we probably wanna place it down in the footer, so that visitors can click from the footer to that page. All these different roads on the website leading to that page will enforce and drive more energy towards that page so that Google realizes that it’s important.

So that’s all the different tasks that have to be done in order to get your page to rank so that your name comes up first on your website. It’s a lot of work that has to be done and it does take time, like 2 to 3 months minimum of work and to be able to get it to rank above everybody else’s website coming up on the web.
