The secret on how to finesse LinkedIn is to dominate the platform. LinkedIn is great for professionals who want to network with other professionals. There is a ton of activity on the platform nowadays and it is a great place to meet folks from all over the world who can increase your career and your business.
I’ve personally had some great encounters on the platform which have turned into a business that would have never happened without being on the platform. When it comes to how to finesse LinkedIn, it’s important to focus on three main areas.
The first area is to complete your profile as much as possible, adding new things all the time. When you’re first starting out on LinkedIn, it can be somewhat intimidating to figure out what to add to the platform as there’s so many different areas on your profile that need to be filled out.
So what I recommend doing, is filling out one thing per day or one thing per week whatever works best for your schedule. Some of the things that you can put on your profile are your history as far as your schooling; past jobs that you’ve worked; nonprofits you volunteered for; leadership positions you had; projects you’ve completed; awards you’ve achieved; reviews you give to others and receive from others, as well as many other things that you can be added.
Once your profile is completed really well, you’ll have a much better chance of pulling in the business and leads that you want from the platform.
The second thing to focus on is creating content for LinkedIn. This is the real big secret on how to finesse LinkedIn. All the greatest LinkedIn users are creating videos that are raw and interactive for the platform. They are getting a following by posting regular videos being real and talking about their challenges and struggles directly to the audience without cuts/editing.
Now this may or may not work for you depending on how comfortable you feel in front of the camera, but it is definitely something worth looking into because it’s a great way to become successful on LinkedIn. If video isn’t your thing, you can always share blog posts or articles and write up a little bit about them as well but just know that these don’t do as well on the platform as videos do.
The third place to focus on for LinkedIn is gaining as many connections as possible. Now, I know this is going to sound weird for me to encourage this because usually on Facebook or Instagram we are not always wanting to connect with people that we don’t really know.
But, when it comes to LinkedIn, I highly encourage you reach out to as many professionals as you possibly can. LinkedIn has a limit on how many connections you can send out per day (probably 200 – 300) and they will let you know once you hit the limit. I encourage you to hit that limit every single day if you can.
This is how you can build your profile up to 10, 20 or even 30,000 connections. Once you have this many connections, opportunities will just come in to you and your sphere of influence will be much greater. Every time you post something on LinkedIn you have a much better chance that many people’s eyeballs will see it when you have this many connections.
